We are excited to announce SHOT IN THE ARM at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival!
From our world premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, we received some very positive reviews…
“The underlying meaning of what makes SHOT IN THE ARM important is that it’s a mirror revealing how selfish we as a society have become. It is a call to humanity to take a step back before we are all eliminated or too sick to care for anyone, let alone ourselves.”
- Sabina Dana Plasse, Film Threat
“Ravishing and compelling! The most COVID-19 related film ever, that isn’t specifically about COVID-19. SHOT IN THE ARM is one of those films everyone should see, if you believe in vaccines or not. Amidst the chaos, Kennedy’s documentary feels like a glimmer of hope!”
- Federico Furzan, Movieblogger.com
SYNOPSIS
Before anyone had heard of COVID-19, filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy (THE GARDEN, FOOD EVOLUTION) began investigating the global measles epidemic— Then COVID-19 happened. Acting quickly, Kennedy shifted his directorial eye to this once-in-a-century tragedy. In SHOT IN THE ARM, he explores vaccine hesitancy historically and in real time, filming with top public health experts (including Tony Fauci, Paul Offit, Peter Hotez), and conducting rare interviews with anti-vaccine activists who have persuaded parents by the millions to refuse vaccines for their children. As a result, SHOT IN THE ARM makes sense of the divides left by the Pandemic and serves to heal them. It asks, can we replace cynicism with healthy curiosity to bridge the political divides that make us sick?
